2. Project Overview
Location
Bexleyheath, London
Surface
Residential bathroom
Finish
Microcement
Scope
25 m²
Duration
14 days
3. The Challenge
The existing boiler needed to remain in the bathroom, while the client wanted a clean, design-led space with no visible services. The room also had no extractor fan in place, meaning ventilation had to be added as part of the renovation.
The brief included a wall-hung toilet, floating vanity unit, recessed shower niche, LED mirror with surrounding lighting, and a wetroom-style shower area with seamless microcement floors throughout.
4. The Solution
We stripped the bathroom back and planned the layout around the existing boiler position. A bespoke full-height wardrobe was built to discreetly house the boiler while keeping it accessible for servicing.
We installed a new extractor fan to improve ventilation, prepared the room for a fully waterproof wetroom installation, and created the necessary structure for the wall-hung toilet, floating vanity and recessed shower niche. The shower area was formed with the correct falls and drainage, allowing the microcement floor to continue seamlessly throughout the room.
5. The Results
The completed bathroom feels calm, refined and far more spacious than the original layout. The boiler is fully concealed within bespoke cabinetry, while the wall-hung sanitaryware and floating vanity keep the floor visually open.

7. F.A.Q
-
Yes and no.
Microcement creates a seamless finish across walls and floors, but it should still be treated in the same way as a tiled bathroom when it comes to junctions and movement areas.
Where microcement meets another material — such as a window frame, vanity unit, bath, shower tray or sanitaryware — silicone is required. These areas can move slightly over time, and without a flexible seal, water can find its way into even the smallest gaps.
In short: microcement-to-microcement areas can remain seamless, but anything that is not finished in microcement will usually need to be properly sealed with silicone.
-
Yes. When professionally installed and sealed, microcement creates a seamless and waterproof surface suitable for bathrooms, wet rooms and shower areas.
-
Yes. Recessed shower shelving can often be integrated during renovation work to improve storage and functionality while maintaining a clean and seamless bathroom design.
