3. The Challenge
The bathroom renovation was affected by poor workmanship from a previous builder, resulting in multiple functional and structural issues throughout the space. The shower mixer was not operating correctly, water was leaking through tiled areas due to missing silicone sealing, and the extractor fan was non-functional. Additional damage was caused during the installation of a granite window cill and vanity countertop, which left surrounding wall surfaces compromised. Due to the extent of the defects and moisture-related issues, the existing microcement bathroom finish had to be fully removed

All faulty installations and damaged areas were carefully assessed and rectified before the bathroom could be refinished. The leaking tiled surfaces were properly sealed, the shower mixer and extractor fan issues were resolved, and damaged wall sections were repaired and prepared to the correct standard. Once the substrate was stabilized and correctly prepared for microcement installation, a new microcement system was professionally reapplied throughout the bathroom to restore both functionality and appearance.
